Irish Dog Training Testimonials

Old-english-sheepdog-MollySinead and Her Dogs Molly and Heidi
Going to Chris has been the most enjoyable and interesting lessons I have ever taken part in. I have an Old English sheepdog and a St Bernard pup.
Basically they had taken over the house and I didn’t know what to do. I had absolutely no understanding as to how a dog thinks or why they do certain things, but what I do know is that I could have ended up ruining two fabulous dogs, if I had not gone to see Chris.
I cannot even begin to write the bad habits I had given the dogs, as it would take forever, but thanks to Chris, myself, our dogs and our house are back in control and the training has given me so much more interest in my dogs.
Molly and Heidi have benefited so much from the training and they are different dogs, compared to the first day I brought them to Banada. We are all really enjoying each other’s company.
Chris is an excellent trainer and her knowledge and expertise about dogs is amazing. She really helped me understand how a dog thinks. She is always available to give advice, which has been a blessing for me, as certain things cropped up about the dogs that I just couldn’t handle myself.
In the last few months I have really gone form desperate to delighted with my dogs, and I only have Chris to thank for that.

Boxer-lillyKate & Jimmy and their dog Lilly

Lilly is our beautiful, enthusiastic, 12 month old boxer. She has a wonderfull nature, is fantastic fun but can be quite a handfull. From an early age Lilly tried to promote herself to head of our little household!! We quickly learned that we needed one to one professional advice in order to manage Lilly's behaviour.

Christine has extensive knowledge and understanding of dog behaviour. She focused on specific problem areas in each lesson and taught us the correct methods to deal with these problems.

We found Christine's approach to be gentle, extremely effective and highly professional. She made lessons interesting as well as enjoyable for both us and Lilly.

Lilly responded very quickly to Christine's methods and is now a much calmer and happier dog. Having now completed basic training we enjoy attending the K9 Capers socialisation classes on a Sunday.

Thank you Christine for all you have taught us!!

Marie and her dog Gizmo
‘I was in despair. I had a bold stroppy little puppy who showed me who was boss! Then I found Christine.
She trained me, and now the change in my puppy is amazing. Now he knows who is the boss!’

Margaret Burke and her dog Max
‘My puppy has calmed down so much since I brought him to Chris. He would be out of control now, had I not brought him to the classes. I would have done all the wrong things with him, and not known how to handle him. Even the children are able to manage him now. I am so glad I bought him here’

Bernice and her son Zameer
‘Christine’s excellent training and patience have made such a difference to our dog Ruaigh and the family. We now have goals to aim for. It is the most beneficial class we have ever attended’

John and Aibhle and their dog Roxy
‘Our visits to Christine have really made a difference to both of us and out dog. Since attending the lessons, our dog’s behaviour has greatly improved. She has become more mannerly towards us and our visitors. We really enjoy spending time with Roxy now’

Valerie and her dog Cotton
Chris has made such a difference to helping me train my dog, in a very calm and clear manner. She is always willing to advise in any way. I would recommend her to anyone.

Paula and her dog Bella
Bella is now 20 months old. I had been trying to train her myself, but once she reached the 50kg it was physically impossible for me to hold her on the lead. She also jumped on visitors and thus was banished outside most of the time. I first brought her to Christine in November 2005. Everything about Chris’s set up is professional and of a high standard. She has a well set up indoor training area and a large fenced outdoor area. Instruction was always clear and precise and she explained my dog’s behaviour and how to correct it very well. After just one lesson the change in Bella was remarkable, and after 5 lessons I have a dog who is calmer, more receptive and will walk to heel, sit, go down, leave, and is learning to stay. If I let her off the lead she will come back promptly. Chris provides laminated copies of each lesson afterwards. I would recommend One2OneDogs very highly. I intend keeping in touch with Chris once the initial training is finished. Any dog owner who loves their dog and wants a happy and well behaved dog should come to Chris at One2One Dogs.

Giselle and her dog Hector
Thanks to Christine’s professional yet friendly training, help and advice, Hector, our resuce puppy has changed from being like a hyperactive toddler with the terrible two’s, into a dog who is a pleasure to own. I am very proud of Hector and his changed ways. I can recommend dog training to any owner,(new or old). Without christine’s help I doubt whether Hector would still be living with us. A BIG THANKS again.

Nick and his dog Sylvie
Our dog came to us at about 9 months old, friendly and loving, but with a number of bad habits, and an independent streak a mile wide! We were so glad we decided to seek professional help, and Christine has impressed me greatly with the depth of her knowledge and expertise. Since taking the training sessions with Christine, the dog is so much more responsive and we have a closer and more rewarding repationship with our pet. But just as importantly the training sessions themselves are so fascinating and informative and good fun for me and the dog. I always look forward to the next one.

Damian and his dog Bran
Christine has been fantastic. A must for any dog owner. I have enjoyed the many visits and it was great to see the improvement in my dog.

From Ruairi and Donna.
Ruairi and I found Christine's training sessions excellent. She showed us how to train Sheba to be obedient. She also taught us a lot about dog behaviour and how to ensure we did not have behavioural problems with Sheba in the future. Christine also gave us advice on dog food and diet. I would highly recommend Christine to anybody, whatever breed of dog they own, as she provided an excellent service at a very reasonable price.

MistyFrom Lorraine with her dog Misty

Christine has made life so much more enjoyable for Misty, Patrick and myself. I used to think mainly a puppy needed lots of play whenever she wanted, and made to feel loved and secure in a new home.
I now know how to do this in the correct way as Misty was starting to become the boss. I thought that I was doing the right things with my Yorkshire terrier pup. How wrong I was….but things have changed, thanks to Christine. Misty is much happier and so are we. Thank you Christine for showing us how to give our dog a better life.

OllieFrom Avril and Simon with their dog Ollie

We do not know what we would have done without Christine. Ollie is a changed dog since attending training lessons. It is amazing to watch Christine work. She has a gift!

From Rosie with her dog Sally

Mans best friend. I had always been very passionate about cats and had always live with them. Then one day at the Sligo SPCA my heart went out to a black Labrador who needed someone to take care of her and love her.
I had no idea how to care or help meet the needs of a dog and on the recommendation of a colleague I contacted Christine.
Chris enabled me to understand a dog and their needs. Also the training for both Sally and I has been extremely bonding, interesting and fun.
I now truly have a very good friend and companion in Sally. Life without her wouldn’t be the same. I am certain the training has helped our relationship flourish.

From Theresa and her dog Klaus

Christine has been a life saver for me and my dog Klaus. At 10 months he chased anything that moved, jumped on everyone and could not be relied on to come back when called. It was only going to be a matter of time before he hurt someone or something.
Christine has taught me very clearly how to relate to my dog so that he knows I am the master. I now have a much happier dog that I adore in the right way.
He comes to work with me every day and sits in the shop by the counter. I could not recommend Christine’s dog training programme highly enough. The lessons are fascinating ad the results were evident very quickly.

ozzie-princeFrom Sean and Ger Finnery with their dogs Ozzie and Prince

“Don’t repeat your commands!” I believe I got as much training as the dogs did. Ozzie and Prince responded very quickly to Christine’s methods. Through her patience and perseverance both dogs have now completed their basic training; the plan is continue up through the grades. This should be fun with the two Springers.
Many thanks Christine for a memorable and fun experience.

From Mary, Paul, Andrew, Laura and Simon with their dog Rowan

Rowan arrived at our home on 12th June 2006. He was a rescue dog and had a troubled past although he was only fourteen months old! Initially all was well, he seemed very good, if a bit nervous, and we were hooked!
We brought him on holiday to Achill and it was a bit of a disaster. He chased anything that moved, pulled on the lead so much the only person who could manage him was my husband. Sometime towards the end of the summer our neighbours complained that they were afraid to pass our house, as Rowan would come charging down our driveway challenging them! We were in trouble and needed urgent help.
A number of dog trainers that we contacted were very pessimistic and said that this type of behaviour was impossible to correct. One even suggested that we should have Rowan put to sleep!
We eventually heard about Christine. Immediately I spoke to her I was heartened by her optimism; she did not feel that we had an insurmountable problem. We then started going to Chris for weekly lessons. Rowan’s problem was that he was dominant and that he was in control instead of us. He felt he was responsible for protecting us. We had to learn a whole new way of dealing with Rowan. We found the classes fascinating. Chris is so patient and utterly professional. Rowan is now a wonderful companion. He is not perfect but we know what situations to avoid and we are in control, not Rowan!
We can never thank Chris enough, she understands dogs behaviour better than anyone I know and she is also a great friend to humans!

JEAN WITH SKY
Sky arrived at our home in July 2007, as a very frightened dog. She was assertive and demanding. She growled and was really difficult to handle. We realised that we needed help urgently and thankfully we found One2onedogs. After an initial assessment with Christine last October followed by obedience training, Sky changed so much.
Through Christine’s help, understanding, patience and professionalism, we learned a lot about dog behaviour.. Sky has gradually become a pleasure to live with. She enjoys her obedience classes and we have obtained our Silver Award to a much higher standard of obedience. We are now hoping to obtain our Gold Award this year.

Chris…you are amazing! Thank you – Jean and John

MY COMMENTS:

Sky has been an extremely challenging dog to work with and has presented me with many different problems to solve. Jean has been totally committed in overcoming any unwanted behaviour that Sky has exhibited which, I hasten to add, has been about everything in the book!We had a couple of setbacks but have talked through the problem and have quickly got back on track again. It has been my pleasure and great fun to work with Jean, and although John was unable to come to lessons, has been just as committed. We reached our goal with Jean and John having the great companion that Sky is now. Jean you deserve a medal!

A BIG STRONG DOG DEVELOPING A LOT OF BAD HABITS(NOT GOOD).
Decided to look up the internet for dog trainers as I was getting nowhere myself. Came across Christine’s website, was impressed, so gave her a call and that was the best thing that I’ve done.

She showed me what I was doing wrong with Tonto and showed me how to do it right. He is much more calm now, he listens and obeys basic commands. I can enjoy him now and take him for walks without him pulling me all over the place.

Tonto is more relaxed. Thank you Christine for your help, could not have done it without you, Ann and Usman.

VERA WITH BRETT
I BROUGHT Brett ( a male German Shepherd pup) home at 7 weeks, little knowing what I had let myself in for..

After being given Christine’s phone number and listening to her common sense approach to training, I decided to give it a go. I am so very glad I did ! I would never managed to either understand or control my dog if it had not been for all the training and help that Christine gave me. I never had a problem that went unsolved or a question that Christine was unable to answer.

Christine obviously loves what she does; she has a wonderful understanding of dogs, which comes across in all her training methods. Thanks to this I have a dog who enjoys his lessons as much as I do.

MY COMMENTS:

A credit to the owners
Vera came to me with a few doubts, I know. From the first day I could see how committed Vera was to training Brett in the correct way. They have4 both gone from strength to strength.
They have a wonderful relationship and it is a real pl4easure and makes me feel very proud to watch them working together in advanced obedience.

Szabo

SHANE AND CLARE WITH SZABO
We bought Szabo at 14 weeks old from a pub owner who had isolated her from the rest of the litter, and kept her in a pub yard with her mother and two other adult dogs.
When we got her she was fearful of noises and overhead movements. She was aggressive around food and had to be fed separately from our other two Schnauzer dogs ( aged 1 and 5)
She was terrified of getting in the car and suffered from motion sickness. When she became fearful she became uncontrollable on the lead, episodes would last all day.
In January 2008 we discovered Chris and started our Basic Training where we were given Ground Rules which we found difficult to apply, as they were completely the opposite of what we were doing. Only when we applied these Ground Rules strictly we began to see a huge improvement and had a happier household. She gradually became calmer in the car and we were able to travel further and further without Szabo becoming agitated.
Szabo gradually progressed and did the next level of Bronze Obedience training, where she got on really well. We were so happy with all Szabo’s improvements we decided to train for the Silver Obedience Award. Chris combined this with “ Heelwork to Music”, which was such fun and by doing this we saw a huge improvement, she was so happy and calm and eager to learn. She just loves to learn new movements.
We are now training for Gold Obedience again combining it with “Heelwork to Music”, which we found makes learning and reinforcing all we have already learnt so much more fun.
As a result of attending our private one to one classes with Chris we have a much happier household but we discovered we had to be very strict with ourselves and ALL the ground rules have to be reinforced.
Chris is a wonderful teacher, patient, kind but firm when needs be, we were so lucky to have found her.

MY COMMENTS:

When Shane and Clare first came to me, I advised them of certain changes that I felt, if put into place, would re-establish their relationship with Szabo, thus enabling them to enjoy her company, and vice versa.
I could see by their expressions, especially Clare, that they would find this new approach very difficult. In fact I had my doubts as to whether they would continue.
How wrong I was. Not only did they continue, they went from completing a basic obedience course to excelling at advanced obedience and then on to “Heelwork to Music”.
Szabo shines at this new sport. A far cry from the dog that first stepped through the training room door. An absolute credit to both Shane and Clare for their perseverance, commitment and love of their dog. It has been a privilege to work with them.

MIRIAM WITH ALI
Since I have begun obedience training with Christine I have learnt how to be in control of my German Shepherd pup, Ali, both at home and in public. Christine has done a great job with us. My dog will now
Sit, stay, heel, wait, and come back to me on command.
Christine is always available to answer any questions that I have with regards to my dog’s behaviour and training and she has taught me to be the leader of my dogs and because of all of this Ali is a well behaved and well trained dog.

MY COMMENTS:

Miriam came to me with her German Shepherd bitch, Ali for a basic obedience course. Miriam was very committed to everything we worked on and it showed. Having successfully completed the course, Miriam decided to work to a higher level, and passed the next grade with flying colours. They are now working at an advanced level and it is my pleasure to work with them and to have been able to watch their relationship develop in this way.
